Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has unveiled the Golf GTI Black Edition, a new variant of its iconic hot hatch, engineered for driving purists and wrapped in a sleek, dark aesthetic. Priced at RM258,990 inclusive of the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP), the special edition is currently offered at an introductory promotional price of RM243,990.

Described by VPCM as “a statement rather than just a car,” the Black Edition builds upon the Golf GTI’s adrenaline-charged DNA with a range of exclusive accessories and design enhancements. Available in either Deep Black or Kings Red, it comes with a host of bespoke styling cues that reinforce its aggressive yet refined identity.

From the outside, the Black Edition lives up to its name with a host of blacked-out design elements: 18-inch Black Richmond alloy wheels, dark GTI dynamic hub caps, black side mirrors, a gloss black front lip, rear diffuser, side skirts, and a distinctive ‘BLACK’ logo on the B-pillars. GTI valve caps and a JPJ-compliant Volkswagen Tint round out the aesthetic, offering both style and substance for Malaysian driving conditions.

Inside, the upgrades continue with Volkswagen’s Universal Traffic Recorder 2.0 (UTR2.0), mounted at both front and rear. This advanced dashcam features Sony’s “Starvis” night-vision image sensor, capturing dual QHD resolution footage even in low light. With fast 5 GHz WiFi and advanced compression, it ensures effortless playback and storage efficiency.

The cabin also receives exclusive Black Edition floor mats, a velcro-based cargo fastening system for securing items in the boot, and a specially curated owner’s box that includes a Volkswagen keyholder and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Locally assembled, the Golf GTI Black Edition is underpinned by the same turbocharged performance that has made the GTI badge legendary. The Black Edition doesn’t modify the core mechanicals, but instead enhances the ownership experience through aesthetic refinement and practical tech.

The offering is further sweetened with the Volkswagen Assurance Package, which includes 7 years of free maintenance, a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty, and 5 years of complimentary roadside assistance.
