Michelin Malaysia has announced that it is expanding the Michelin Primacy 5 lineup to include sport utility vehicles (SUVs), catering to both internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles. Just a year after the initial launch of the Michelin Primacy 5 tyres, the expanded lineup now provides customers with even more sizing options to fit a variety of vehicle types.

Michelin Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Managing Director, Florentin Odenwald, said, “The extended MICHELIN Primacy 5 line addresses the SUV and crossover market, which has grown significantly from just 11% of sales in 2010 to 42% in 2025*. This extension adds 34 new fitments for 16- to 22-inch wheels, offering a broader range of sizing options to meet diverse vehicle and consumer needs.”

“Malaysia is at an exciting inflection point, with EV adoption accelerating and SUVs dominating the roads. With the extension of the MICHELIN Primacy 5 range, we are meeting this shift head-on, giving drivers of both electric and conventional SUVs a tyre that delivers comfort, safety, and efficiency without compromise,” he added.

The new Michelin Primacy 5 SUV tyre variant features reinforced sidewalls for greater stability and impact resistance. Michelin Silent Rib Gen-3 technology provides low interior cabin noise, while MaxTouch technology maximises the contact patch with the road, distributing forces more evenly for longer tread life without compromising safety.

Additionally, the Michelin Primacy 5 for SUVs offers a 16% shorter wet braking distance, supported by Michelin EverGrip, Michelin EverTread, and Functional Elastomers 3.0. EV owners can also benefit from an extended driving range, as the new tyres reduce rolling resistance by 10%.

In Malaysia, the Michelin Primacy 5 is now available in 76 different sizes, ranging from 16-inch to 22-inch wheels, with a recommended retail price starting from RM467 up to RM1,639.
