MARii and MAA Announce Strategic Partnership for Automotive Exhibitions

The Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) and the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on hosting automotive exhibitions and motor shows on an alternate-year basis from 2025 to 2028. Under this agreement, MARii will continue organizing the Malaysia Autoshow (MAS), while MAA will host the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Showcase (KLIMS). This arrangement aims to optimize resources, reduce duplication, and provide stakeholders with more preparation time, ensuring impactful and innovative events.

Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii, hailed the collaboration as a significant milestone for Malaysia’s automotive industry. “By aligning the strengths of MARii and MAA, we are creating a unified, strategic approach to organizing automotive exhibitions,” he said. He added that the alternate-year format will allow for better allocation of resources and ensure that both MAS and KLIMS stand out as flagship events, showcasing Malaysia’s leadership in automotive advancements and sustainable growth.

MAA President Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing its benefits to industry stakeholders. “This collaboration will not only ease the burden on industry players by eliminating the need to participate in two events annually but also enhance the scope and impact of our motor shows,” he said. Both organizations believe that pooling resources will result in higher-quality events that better serve the industry and its stakeholders.

The alternating schedule will see MARii hosting the Malaysia Autoshow in 2025, followed by MAA’s Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Showcase in 2026, continuing this pattern through 2028. This framework allows exhibitors and participants more time to prepare groundbreaking innovations and engaging presentations, ensuring that each event delivers a unique and memorable experience.

In addition to optimizing schedules, the partnership underscores a shared commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector. Both organizations are keen to use this collaboration as a platform to highlight Malaysia’s advancements in mobility solutions and green technology, aligning with global trends in the automotive industry.

Details regarding the partnership will be finalized in the coming months. As the automotive industry evolves, this joint initiative marks a step forward in creating world-class exhibitions that not only serve local and international stakeholders but also cement Malaysia’s position as a leader in the global automotive landscape.
