Is the BYD Atto 2 launching in Malaysia soon? Here’s what we know so far
BYD Sime Motors posted a teaser on its social media featuring paw prints and the cryptic line: “Don’t worry, be capy.” No car, no silhouette, not even the usual pre-launch countdown, just a rodent pun and some emojis. What could it be? Reports point to the BYD Atto 2.
Internally known as the BYD Yuan Up in China, the BYD Atto 2 is a compact all-electric B-segment SUV that slots neatly between the Dolphin and the Atto 3. It made its regional debut at the Bangkok International Motor Show in March and has since been confirmed for Australia and spotted on the radar in the Philippines. With our market often following this regional rollout pattern, Malaysia seems next in line.
Currently, BYD Malaysia’s lineup includes the Dolphin (RM100k–RM125k) and the Atto 3 Ultra (RM124.5k). Based on pricing in China, the BYD Atto 2 would likely fall somewhere in that range, overlapping the Dolphin while undercutting the Atto 3.
What to Expect
If we follow the spec sheet of the export versions, the BYD Atto 2 is expected to come with:
- A 177 PS, 290 Nm front motor
- 45.12 kWh LFP Blade battery
- CLTC-rated range of 401 km
- 65 kW DC fast charging (10–80% in 37 mins)
- 11 kW AC charging (full in 5.5 hours)
- 16-inch alloys, 8.8” digital cluster, and a 12.8” rotating infotainment screen
Of course, local spec confirmation is still pending. For now, we’ll just have to stay tuned to their social media pages.
