BMW Group Malaysia is celebrating half a century of the iconic BMW 3 Series with a special edition model, marking five decades of performance, innovation, and driving pleasure. Say hello to the BMW M340i xDrive Edition 50 Jahre, a limited-run tribute with just 50 units available, sold exclusively through BMW’s official online platform. Priced at RM396,800 (or RM423,200 with the BMW Service & Repair Inclusive package), this collector’s edition blends dynamic capability with commemorative flair.

This launch forms part of a global celebration of the 3 Series, a model that has defined BMW’s identity since its debut in the 1970s. Locally, it has been a fixture of aspirational motoring for Malaysians, earning a reputation for blending everyday usability with engaging dynamics.

“The BMW 3 Series has earned an enduring place in the hearts of fans not only globally, but right here in Malaysia,” said Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia. “Today, we commemorate this milestone with the introduction of the New BMW M340i Drive Edition 50 Jahre, and we eagerly anticipate its continued evolution — one that blends legacy with cutting-edge advancements in performance and technology.”

Positioned as a collector’s item, the M340i xDrive Edition 50 Jahre comes outfitted with a suite of exclusive touches, elevating it above the standard model with cosmetic upgrades and bespoke interior trim.

Highlights include:

Exterior Enhancements:

  • M Performance side skirt extensions

The launch coincides with a strong first quarter for BMW Group globally. The company delivered 586,149 vehicles across its BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce brands, matching last year’s performance. Notably, electric vehicles (EVs) accounted for a growing portion of that total, with fully-electric deliveries rising 32.4% year-on-year to 109,516 units.

Senior Vice President for Sales in Asia-Pacific, Jean-Philippe Parain, highlighted the brand’s forward-looking strategy:

“As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the BMW 3 Series, it serves as a powerful reminder of how this model has come to define the very essence of the BMW brand — a fusion of dynamic performance, cutting-edge technology, and timeless design.”

In conjunction with the launch, BMW Group Malaysia is organising a Heritage Showcase from 18–20 April 2025 at The Yard, Sentul Depot. The event will spotlight all seven generations of the 3 Series, offering a rare opportunity to witness the evolution of this legendary model — from the original E21 to today’s tech-forward G20.

Attendees can also enjoy test drives of the BMW 330i M Sport, explore brand experiences, and take part in a variety of public engagement activities.

The 3 Series has always stood at the intersection of sporty performance, everyday practicality, and innovation. The M340i xDrive Edition 50 Jahre continues this tradition, not just as a high-performance sedan, but as a statement of BMW’s lasting legacy.
