All-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton now open for booking in Malaysia, from RM102k
Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has just announced that the all-new sixth-generation Mitsubishi Triton is now open for bookings in the country. With 5 variants on offer, prices range from an estimated RM102,000 for the base single cab variant and an estimated RM170,000 for the range-topping Triton Athlete.
- Triton Athlete
- Triton Premium
- Triton GL AT
- Triton GL MT
- Triton Single Cab MT
After about a year since its global unveiling in Thailand, the sixth-generation Triton is now available for bookings in Malaysia. There are 4 double cab variants and one single cab variant. All variants come with a 4WD system, although the Triton Athlete gets the flagship Super Select AWD system.
The all-new Triton is a bigger truck compared to its predecessor and also seems to adopt a new philosophy all together. While the old one prioritised agility with its short torning radius and short wheelbase, the new Trion adopt a longer wheelbase which has compromised agility but makes for a sturdier truck bed.
The new Triton also adopts a boxier appearance which is a departure from the outgoing Dynamic Shield that we have become accustomed to. Among the standard exterior equipment on the all-new Triton are LED headlights, LED taillights, 18-inch wheels (16-inch for Single Cab), and variable intermittent wipers.
Powering the all-new Triton is a new 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine with 3 different output levels (thanks to different turbochargers). Out of the 3 engine levels, Malaysia gets 2 of them with the Athlete variant getting the most powerful version of the 2.4-litre turbodiesel mill that puts out 204 PS and 470 Nm. The rest of the variants get the less powerful version of the engine that outs out 184 PS and 430 Nm. The transmission for the all-new triton is either a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual.
Inside, the all-new Triton get a whole new cabin with a new design approach. Much more functional and robust now, the Triton’s buttons are said to be big enough to be easy to use even if you were to wear gloves. The cabin also gets a new touchscreen head unit among other things.
Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia CEO, Shinya Ikeda said, “Mitsubishi Motors has produced approximately 5.6 million pickup trucks spanning five generations over 45 years since its first launch in 1978. With a record of sales in 150 countries, the pick-up truck is a global strategic vehicle for Mitsubishi Motors. Now in its sixth generation, the all-new Triton is fully redesigned from the exterior and interior to the chassis, ladder frame, and engine.”
