2026 Peugeot 408 facelift debuts – new Flare Green colour, three-claw LED design
Stellantis has unveiled the 2026 Peugeot 408 facelift, a revamped look to the existing C-segment coupe crossover silhouette. The current Peugeot 408 was launched back in 2022, sparked interest as it ditches the conventional sedan shape for an entirely new form.
Starting from the front, the distinctive “fang” daytime running light (DRL) signatures have been replaced with a new three-claw DRL design, integrated into the headlight’s assembly. The three-claw LED also serves as scrolling indicators. Fine LED lines across the upper grille on top of the illuminated central badge, creating a visual effect of a full-width light bar. The front headlights have been lowered in the front bumper, composed of two stacked ultra-thin modules – one above for dipped beams and one below for the main beams. Peugeot states, “The headlights feature Peugeot Full LED technology on Allure and Allure Business trims and Peugeot Matrix LED technology on GT, and GT Exclusive trims.”
Continuing to the rear, the Peugeot 408 facelift adopts illuminated ‘PEUGEOT’ illuminated lettering, backed by a gloss black panel that spans the car’s width. The signature three slanted LED claws for the taillights are now offered to all trim levels.
Unlike the taillights, the wheel designs vary by trim level. The Allure and Allure Business come with 17-inch glossy black alloy wheels as standard. 19-inch Adakite wheels come standard on GT trims with hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines. The 20-inch Monolithe wheels, however, come exclusively to the plug-in hybrid GT Exclusive trim. New striking exterior body colour, Flare Green, shifting into bright yellow in sunlight and deep green in shadows.
Interior-wise, it remains largely familiar to the current Peugeot 408, with Peugeot claiming updated 3D graphics for its 10-inch meter cluster, improving readability and visibility. The 10-inch centre console display sits slightly lower and angled towards the driver, whilst still being convenient to the front passenger. The upholstery has been updated with new fabric trim, as well as optional Alcantara and Nappa leather for the higher trims.
The 10-speaker Hi-FI Premium Focal sound system has been upgraded with TNF aluminium inverted dome tweeters, powered by a new 12-channel 690 W Class D boosted amplifier.
The Peugeot 408 facelift will be offered with either hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), or fully electric (EV) powertrains. Note, this will be offered solely in Europe for now.
The hybrid form, the Peugeot 408 comes powered by a 1.2 L 3-cylinder petrol engine (145 PS), mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch electrified automatic gearbox. Peugeot claimed, “The battery recharges automatically while driving, providing extra torque for dynamic acceleration while maintaining efficient fuel consumption (5.0 l/100 km WLTP combined cycle).”
The Peugeot 408 PHEV variant combines a 1.6 L 4-cylinder petrol engine (180 PS) with a 92kW electric motor, paired with the 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. The 14.6 kWh lithium-ion battery can be fully charged in two hours and five minutes using a 7.4 kW (32 A) wall box, providing a full range of 85 km in full EV mode.
Finally, the fully electric Peugeot 408 is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor, producing 213 PS (157 kW) and 343 Nm of torque. Peugeot stated, “Aerodynamics have been meticulously refined — both the bodywork and underbody — resulting in a low drag coefficient (SCx: 0.66). This contributes to a low electricity consumption of just 14.7 kWh/100 km. Combined with a high-voltage NMC* battery offering 58.2 kWh of usable capacity, it achieves a range of 456 km (WLTP combined cycle).”
In Malaysia, the pre-facelift Peugeot 408 is offered in three variants – Allure, Premium, and GT – with prices starting at RM 146,055 on the road without insurance. Unlike its European counterpart, it is fully petrol-powered by a 1.6 L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 218 PS and 300 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed Aisin automatic transmission.
