2021 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport launched in Thailand, have all Toyotas been GR-ed already?

The 2021 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport has been launched in Thailand, following the launch of the Toyota Hilux GR Sport yesterday.

Prices of the 2021 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport start at THB 1,879,000 (~RM 240k).

Powered by the same 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV turbodiesel engine (204 PS/500 NM) and paired with the same 6-speed automatic transmission, the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport tops the range of the Toyota Fortuner, even surpassing the Legender variant.

So, what does the GR Sport treatment add to the Toyota Fortuner?

Lets see…

1. 2021 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport handling tweaks

The springs on the Fortuner are 17% stiffer and a monotube shock absorber by Kayaba Malaysia is used. All-around disc brakes are in use, and the brakes are tuned for a tighter, more linear response.

2. 2021 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport exterior upgrades

The Toyota Fortuner GR Sport gets:

  1. Black 20-inch alloy wheels (same design as Legender wheels)
  2. Body-coloured door handles
  3. A new rear spoiler
  4. Gloss black grille with GR symbol
  5. Gloss black body kit

3. 2021 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport interior upgrades

On the inside, the interior is mainly black with hints of red. GR Sport highlights in the interior include:

  1. Suede leather upholstery with synthetic leather red stitching & GR symbol
  2. Smoke Silver stripes, black synthetic leather, and red stitching on the dashboard
  3. Black Synthetic leather upholstery on the door panels
  4. Perforated-leather-wrapped steering wheel (with red stitching, red 12 o’clock mark, and GR emblem)
  5. Leather-wrapped gear knob
  6. Sporty accelerator and brake pedals
  7. GR Sport floor mats

The Toyota Fortuner GR Sport also offers a decent safety package with added BSM (Blind Spot Monitoring) and RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert)

Indonesia and Thailand have already received the Toyota Fortuner GR Sport. When will it be Malaysia’s turn?
