BMW I Vision Circular Concept Debuts- No Buck-Tooth Grille, But Does It Look Any Better?

BMW has unveiled its latest concept car, the BMW i Vision Circular concept car at the 2021 IAA Mobility exhibition today.
Only a concept, the BMW i Vision Circular is built on the “circular” life cycle of the product – created from recycled materials and also recyclable at the end of its service life.
The BMW i Vision Circular hints at the “Neue Klasse” which will be the next generation of BMWs starting 2025. BMW aims to have 10 million full-electric cars on the road in 10 years from now.
According to Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, the BMW Neue Klasse (New Class) will make its world debut in 2025.
By 2030, 50% of BMW cars will be fully-electric (BEV) and MINI would be a fully-electric brand by then. BMW aims to achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2050.
Long gone are the buck-tooth kidney grilles on the BMW iX. The BMW i Vision Circular merges the headlights and kidney grilles into a single design, creating a new brand identity for BMW. “BMW’s brand identity is now expressed through light and digital surfaces in the exterior”, says Adrian Van Hooydonk, Chief designer of BMW.
With sustainability and a circular life cycle as the main themes, the BMW i Vision Circular’s body is made of recycled aluminium which anodized with bronze (not painted).
On the inside, the BMW i Vision clarity gets a minimalistic yet luxurious & spacious interior. The main highlight is a “phygital” (physical + digital) instrument panel or “floating dashboard”.
The classical instrument panel is turned into a next-generation “phygital” user interface. Here, it takes the form of a hovering, V-shaped sculpture that projects out into the cabin.
All interior surfaces are made of recycled materials, and all interior parts are easily assembled and disassembled (with single fasteners) to make recycling much easier (not a good idea to have kids in the car).
Alongside the BMW i Vision Circular, BMW is also showcasing several two-wheelers and its existing all-electric line-up at the IAA Mobility 2021. BMW is the first German automaker to join the “Business Ambition for 1.5°C” campaign.
