Volvo EX60 debuts – 810 km range, “wing-like” door handles

Simultaneously with the launch of the new Volvo ES90 in Malaysia, Volvo Cars has introduced the new Volvo EX60 and its Cross Country variant in Europe.  A 5-seater D-segment fully electric SUV built on the SPA 3 platform, the EX60 has a range of up to 810 km on a single charge and can add 340 km of range in 10 minutes of charging. Charging takes only 19 minutes from 10% to 80%.

The new Volvo EX60 comes in three different powertrains: the P12 AWD Electric, the P10 AWD Electric, and the P6 RWD Electric. The Volvo Cross Country variant, however, only gets the P10 AWD Electric first and the longer range P12 AWD Electric down the line. The powertrain specs of the new Volvo EX60 are listed below:

In terms of exterior design, the low front improves the Volvo EX60’s aerodynamics while the sloping roofline and tapered body from the side allow for a spacious cabin. Illuminated wing grip door handles blend into the frameless door. The Cross Country variant gives the Volvo EX60 a rugged look by having black upper door mouldings, skid plates at the front and rear, rugged wheel arches on all four corners, a wider track, and sits 20mm higher above ground.

Moving into the interior, the Volvo EX60 features ample cabin storage and compartments, six different illumination themes, and an electrochromic panoramic roof. For those who enjoy music, the Volvo EX60 features a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, including a headrest speaker for all four main seats. The Volvo EX60 contains the latest HuginCore core system, powered by the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin on-chip system, which allows the Volvo EX60 to continuously evolve. Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, is also integrated with the Volvo EX60 from launch.

Safety has been the forefront of the Volvo brand, and for the Volvo EX60, it comes standard with Volvo Cars’ Driver Understanding System, which can detect driver tiredness or distraction. If necessary, it can also intervene by bringing the car to a stop safely. Equipped to the Volvo EX60 is the multi-adaptive safety belt, which adjusts the tension of the seat belt depending on the severity of the impact with the help of exterior sensors.

Volvo Cars CEO, Hakan Samuelsson said, “The new, all-electric EX60 changes the game in terms of range, charging and price and represents a new beginning for Volvo Cars and our customers. With this car, we remove all remaining obstacles for going electric. This fantastic new car is also a testament of what we are capable of at Volvo Cars, with an all-new product architecture introducing new key technologies – mega casting, cell-to-body, and core computing.”
