Volvo EC40 Single Motor launched in Malaysia – RM 249k, RWD, 238 PS/420 Nm, 488 km range

The Volvo EC40 is now available in Malaysia with a new Single Motor variant, joining the existing Twin Motor in the line-up. Formerly known as the C40 Recharge, the coupe-styled SUV is priced at RM 248,888 on-the-road without insurance, undercutting the dual-motor version by RM 40,000.

The EC40 Single Motor features a rear-mounted permanent magnet motor rated at 238 PS and 420 Nm, good for a 0-100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h. Power comes from a 70 kWh NCM battery (67 kWh usable), delivering up to 488 km WLTP range.

Charging is supported at up to 200 kW DC, bringing the battery from 10-80% in 26 minutes. For home or workplace use, AC charging is rated at 11 kW, taking around seven hours for a full charge.

Malaysia gets the Single Motor in Ultra trim, which includes:

  • 19-inch five-spoke black diamond-cut alloys with staggered tyres (235/50 front, 255/45 rear)
  • Pixel LED headlamps
  • 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 9-inch central touchscreen with Google built-in, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Harman Kardon sound system
  • Wireless charger
  • Panoramic fixed glass roof
  • Dual-zone climate control with PM2.5 filter
  • Powered front seats with driver memory
  • 360-degree camera and hands-free powered tailgate

The car also comes with Pilot Assist, seven airbags, AEB, lane keeping assist, rear collision warning/avoidance, blind spot monitoring and cross traffic alert with auto brake.

A new Sand Dune metallic colour debuts on the EC40, first seen on the EX90, joining Aurora Silver, Onyx Black and Crystal White. Inside, the SUV comes with a leather-free Charcoal cabin, trimmed in suede textile and Microtech, with new Cutting Edge décor across the dash and doors.

For Malaysia, the EC40 is covered by a five-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, plus an eight-year/160,000 km warranty for the high-voltage battery. Buyers also receive free first-year insurance (RM 5,600) and a wallbox voucher (RM 5,000) as part of a limited-time launch offer.
