Volvo Car Malaysia opens bookings for EX90 and new XC90

Volvo Car Malaysia has officially opened bookings for its latest flagship SUVs, the Volvo EX90 and the newly refreshed XC90. Both seven-seater models represent the brand’s commitment to electrification and safety, offering a blend of luxury, technology, and sustainable mobility.

Malaysia becomes one of the first Asia Pacific markets to introduce the Volvo EX90, following its debut in Thailand last year. While detailed specifications and trim levels will be announced later, the expected retail price for both models is approximately RM450,000.

All-New Volvo EX90

The Volvo EX90 is the brand’s first fully electric seven-seater SUV, engineered with cutting-edge technology and a software-driven architecture designed to evolve over time. As Volvo’s new top-tier model, it features:

  •  Over 600km of electric range on a full charge
  • A sub-five-second 0-100km/h acceleration
  • Bowers & Wilkins High Fidelity audio system
  • True seven-seater flexibility with powered folding seats for seamless cargo expansion

Designed to be the safest Volvo yet, the EX90 incorporates the latest in driver-assist and safety technologies, reinforcing the brand’s heritage in vehicle safety innovation.

Updated Volvo XC90

The new XC90, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), carries forward the legacy of Volvo’s first-ever SUV while receiving its first major update in a decade. This latest iteration aligns more closely with the EX90 in terms of design and user experience, making it a compelling choice for those seeking a balance between electrification and practicality.

Both the EX90 and the new XC90 align with Volvo’s global sustainability goals, as the company targets net zero emissions across its operations by 2040 and aims for 90 to 100 percent of sales to be electrified vehicles before 2030.

Volvo continues to position the XC90 as an ideal choice for those who aren’t ready to go fully electric but still want a lower-emission alternative.

Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, emphasized the company’s ongoing shift towards an electrified future.

“With the imminent introduction of the Volvo EX90 and new XC90 for Malaysia, we are making good progress towards our global ambitions of 90 to 100 percent electrified car sales before the end of the decade. Last year, our BEV and PHEV models already made up more than 80 percent of our sales.”

He added,

“The EX90 is a compelling addition to our current BEV portfolio of compact SUVs as it represents an option for owners who require more space, luxury, comfort and technology in a powerful, fully electric package. The EX90 complements the new, facelifted XC90 as the best of Volvo with our unwavering focus on safety to give you the freedom to move.”
