This could be the 2025 Proton Saga – Modern looks, big cabin leap
The Proton Saga has long stood as Malaysia’s most affordable new car, and with recent spy shots surfacing online, it looks like the popular sedan is about to get a bold refresh for 2025. Based on those sightings, digital artist Theottle has created a set of renders imagining what the updated Saga could look like, and the results are seriously promising.
Up front, the rendered 2025 Saga wears a significantly more modern face. The grille is now more upright and wide-set, blending neatly into slimmer headlamps that could potentially house LED elements. The bumper gets reprofiled with vertical cutouts for the DRLs and a cleaner, more dynamic lower intake.
While the side profile maintains the familiar Saga silhouette, it’s been given more defined character lines and subtle sculpting for a more contemporary stance. The two-tone alloy wheels seen in the render add a premium touch.
The rear is where the biggest visual changes occur. The render suggests a full-width taillight design connected by a blacked-out strip, adding visual width and modernity. The reimagined bumper and new lamp graphics hint at a much more upmarket rear fascia, but again, it’s important to stress that this is just an artist’s interpretation.
While according to renders the exterior makeover is already impressive but it’s inside where the Saga appears to take its biggest leap. A leaked interior photo from the same batch of spy shots shows a fully revamped cabin featuring a modern dual-screen layout.
Instead of the traditional analogue cluster and basic infotainment unit, the new layout integrates a digital instrument cluster with a freestanding central touchscreen, likely running an updated infotainment OS. This alone brings the Saga into a more contemporary space, echoing Proton’s newer offerings like the S70 and X50.
Other key updates include:
• A new multi-function flat-bottom steering wheel with a more upmarket design.
• Redesigned air vents and dashboard contours for a cleaner, more horizontal visual flow.
• Revised switchgear, updated door cards, and what appears to be better fit and finish throughout the cabin.
Though it’s still unclear which variant this interior belongs to, the leap in perceived quality is undeniably an important move to keep the Saga competitive in a rapidly modernising entry-level market.
While nothing has been confirmed officially, the signs point to this being more than just a facelift. If the production model stays true to what we’re seeing in these renders and spy shots, the 2025 Saga may well represent a generational leap, especially in terms of design, tech, and perceived quality.
Proton has yet to announce a launch timeline, but given the state of the spy shots, a debut could be likely within the first half of 2025.
