MG Cyberster now open for booking in Malaysia, est. below RM350k

The first-ever EV roadster in Malaysia, the MG Cyberster is now open for bookings in Malaysia. Together with the announcement, SAIC Motor Malaysia also provides an estimated price of below RM350,000 for the MG Cyberster.

For the Malaysian market, the MG Cyberster will be available in one variant only It gets a dual-motor electric powertrain that puts out 503 PS (375 kW) and 725 Nm at maximum. This setup enables a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.2 seconds, easily quicker than most EVs in the Malaysian market.

Storing power in the MG Cyberster is a 77-kWh battery that provdes 446 km of range (WLTP). The battery can be charged at a maximum rate of 7 kW with AC charging (single phase) and 150 KW with DC charging. The former charges the car from 10% to 100% in 10.5 hours while the latter charges the car from 10% to 80% in 38 minutes.

The MG Cyberster will be the first of its kind in Malaysia as an EV roadster has yet to be officially sold in the Malaysian market. Unique even within MG’s own lineup, the Cyberster will cater to an entirely different demographic compared to the rest of MG’s offerings. With pretty much no direct rivals, an alternative to the MG Cyberster may be something like the Mazda Miata (although Miata fans may not agree).

On the outside, the MG Cybertser is a flashy roadster with scissor doors and a rather extreme rear end styling. And while it may be bigger than the older MG roadsters that we know, it does appear to try to embody that lightweight roadster philosophy of its predecessors. Just to to give you a context on the Cyberster’s size, it sits on a set of 20-inch wheels which look lnicely proportionate with everything else.

Inside, the MG Cybertster features a driver-oriented cabin that encapsulates the driver with 3 screens on the dashboard, all angled towards the driver. There is also another screen on the centre console for certain functions. Finished in red, the Cyberster’s cabin can only fit 2 adults.

Set to be launched in Malaysia soon, interested customers can now place their bookings for the MG Cyberster. It will make its first public debut at Auto Car Expo (ACE) 2024.
