2026 Subaru Solterra EV: more range, power, and tech for the future of EV SUVs

Subaru has officially unveiled the all-new 2026 Subaru Solterra EV at the 2025 New York International Auto Show, introducing major upgrades in range, performance, technology, and design. Building on its initial 2023 launch, the new Solterra EV positions itself as a top contender among electric SUVs with more capability and connectivity than ever before.

The 2026 Subaru Solterra is powered by a newly upgraded 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery, offering an estimated range of over 285 miles — a 25% improvement compared to previous Solterra models. A new battery preconditioning system ensures optimal charging efficiency even in cold climates.

With charging speeds up to 150 kW, the Solterra EV can recharge from 10% to 80% in less than 35 minutes. Thanks to the standard North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, Solterra owners now gain access to over 15,000 Tesla Superchargers across North America.

The 2026 Subaru Solterra delivers stronger performance with standard dual electric motors producing 233 horsepower through Subaru’s advanced Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.

For drivers seeking even more excitement, the all-new Solterra XT trim boosts output to 338 combined horsepower, allowing a 0-60 mph sprint in under five seconds. Enhanced motor management also improves traction and control in both wet and dry conditions, making the Solterra an ideal all-electric SUV for every adventure.

Staying true to its roots, the 2026 Subaru Solterra offers exceptional off-road capability. Standard features include:

  • 8.3 inches of best-in-class ground clearance
  • X-MODE® Dual-Mode System with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings
  • Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control for superior low-grip handling

Upgraded suspension and electric power steering systems enhance ride comfort, reduce body roll, and improve overall driving responsiveness, both on- and off-road.

Inside, the 2026 Subaru Solterra introduces a new 14-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen, complete with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility. Standard tech upgrades include:

  • Wireless 15W smartphone chargers for driver and front passenger
  • Rear USB-C fast-charging ports for passengers
  • New panoramic view monitor for enhanced visibility

Safety remains a priority with Subaru’s EyeSight® driver-assistance suite, offering features like Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Change Assist, Emergency Stop Assist, and Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control as standard across all trims.

The 2026 Solterra EV embraces a refreshed, more sophisticated look, featuring:

  • A six-star illuminated Subaru badge
  • Redesigned headlamps and front bumper
  • Updated rear spoiler and rear gate garnish
  • Newly designed 18- and 20-inch wheels

Inside, a clean, open cabin with metallic accents and a low-mounted center touchscreen creates a spacious and driver-focused environment. New body-color fenders and optional two-tone paint finishes give the Solterra a stylish, urban edge.

Pricing and full specifications for the 2026 Subaru Solterra EV will be announced closer to its official launch later in 2025. The new Solterra represents Subaru’s continued commitment to electric innovation, offering a versatile, capable, and tech-rich electric SUV for modern drivers.
