2026 Honda City facelift unveiled in Thailand, Malaysia when?

Shortly after the official unveiling of the facelifted Honda City in India, Honda Thailand unveiled the 2026 Honda City facelift together with the hatchback variant, which is not available in India. As is tradition, it is expected that the facelifted Honda City and Honda City Hatchback will arrive on Malaysian shores soon. In the meantime, here is what to expect from Honda’s refreshed compact car.

Right out of the gate, the 2026 Honda City features a redesigned front end, now utilising a full-width LED light bar that connects to the presumed DRL units. The front and rear bumpers also feature a sleeker and cleaner look. For context, in the Thai market, the Honda City comes in four variants: one ICE and three HEVs. These are named Honda City 1.0 Turbo S CVT, Honda City e:HEV V, Honda City e:HEV SV, and Honda City e:HEV RS. The same applies to the hatchback variant. The SV and RS variants also receive smoked rear taillights.

Powertrain-wise, the Honda City 1.0 Turbo S CVT gets a non-hybrid 1.0-litre VTEC turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 122 PS and 173 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT driving the front wheels. The other three HEV variants, on the other hand, get a 1.5-litre hybrid four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine producing 98 PS and 127 Nm of torque. The electric motor produces 109 PS and 253 Nm of torque, with energy supplied by a 1.0 kWh lithium-ion battery. Power is sent to the front wheels through an e-CVT.

Other highlighted features include the Multi-view Camera System (MVCS), a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and a wireless charger. The Honda Sensing safety suite is also included, featuring systems such as Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning, Auto High-Beam, and Lead Car Departure Notification System.

Exterior colour options include Crystal Black Pearl, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Taffeta White (exclusive to the e:HEV V and S variants), Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic (exclusive to the e:HEV SV and e:HEV V variants), Platinum White Pearl (exclusive to the e:HEV RS and e:HEV SV variants), Urban Gray Pearl, and Blazing Red Pearl (both exclusive to the e:HEV RS variant).

All of this information currently applies only to the Thai-market Honda City and Honda City Hatchback facelift models. It remains unknown what the Malaysian market will receive or when. However, one thing is certain: as is tradition, Malaysia is expected to receive the facelifted Honda City and Honda City Hatchback soon.
