2025 MG Cyberster RWD launched in Malaysia – RM 300k, 340 PS, 508 km range

MG Motor Malaysia has expanded its electric roadster lineup with a new rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant of the MG Cyberster, priced at RM299,900. That’s RM20k less than the all-wheel drive (AWD) version introduced in December 2024.

This new RWD variant runs a single motor setup delivering 340 PS and 475 Nm to the rear wheels. It’s down 204 PS and 250 Nm from the AWD’s dual-motor system, but still quick enough with a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 5.0 seconds. Top speed is not stated, but the focus here seems to be balance and range: the RWD keeps the same 77 kWh NMC battery, now capable of 508 km on a full charge (up from 444 km in the AWD).

Charging performance is identical between the two: 150 kW DC fast charging (10% to 80% in 38 minutes) and 7 kW AC. It also retains the Brembo brake calipers, though it swaps the 20-inch wheels for 19s (245/45 front, 275/40 rear).

Visually, nothing’s changed. The scissor doors, low-slung silhouette, and Kammback tail design remain. Inside, you get a tri-screen digital cockpit: a 10.25-inch digital cluster, two 7-inch auxiliary screens, and a 7-inch infotainment display. The leather and Alcantara interior comes in black-red or grey depending on exterior colour. Four colours are offered: Dynamic Red, Camden Grey, Inca Yellow, and English White. A red soft top is a RM2,000 option for the grey and white cars.

The RWD variant is backed by a 7-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, 8-year/180,000 km battery warranty, and 8-year/160,000 km motor warranty. Early buyers also get a 7 kW wallbox charger and 1-year unlimited charging via JomCharge with AutoCharge support.

You can check out the new Cyberster RWD at 1 Utama’s Ground Floor Centre Court (Old Wing) from 9-13 July. MG is also showcasing the MG5, MG4, MG HS, and MG S5 EV at the event, with test drives available.

Spent the past few years writing, shooting, and occasionally arguing with camera gear for a living. Now off on a new adventure in automotive storytelling. Still with too many car thoughts, and an underpowered RWD coupe pretending it's a race car.
