2025 BMW 530i previewed in Malaysia – Est RM400k, 258PS, 400Nm
The eighth-generation (G60) BMW 5 Series lineup in Malaysia has expanded with the introduction of the 530i M Sport, a petrol-powered variant that joins the locally assembled (CKD) 520i and 520i M Sport launched last year. Assembled in Kulim, Kedah, the 530i M Sport is priced at an estimated RM400,000, positioning it above the 520i M Sport, which is currently listed at RM357,800 (on-the-road, without insurance and BSI) or RM388,100 with BSI included.
The 530i M Sport is powered by a B48 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, similar to the 520i models, but offers more performance thanks to a higher output. Paired with a 48V mild hybrid system, the engine delivers 258 PS and 400 Nm of torque, outperforming the 520i’s 190 PS and 310 Nm.
These figures translate to improved performance, with the 530i accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 6.2 seconds (compared to 7.5 seconds for the 520i) and achieving a top speed of 250 km/h (versus 230 km/h for the 520i). Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission.
For a more dynamic driving experience, the 530i M Sport is equipped with Adaptive Suspension Professional and Integral Active Steering, a rear-wheel steering system that enhances agility and reduces the turning circle to as little as 11.7 metres.
The 530i M Sport features the signature M Sport styling package, emphasizing its sporty appeal. Highlights include the Iconic Glow kidney grille, adaptive LED headlamps, LED taillights, and 20-inch star-spoke style 938M alloy wheels—an inch larger than the 520i M Sport’s wheels. Satin aluminium line exterior trim further differentiates it from the 520i M Sport, which uses M high-gloss Shadowline trim.
Available exterior colours include Black Sapphire Metallic, Mineral White Metallic, Cape York Green Metallic, Brooklyn Grey Metallic, and Phytonic Blue Metallic.
Inside, the 530i M Sport boasts a suite of premium features. The cabin is adorned with Merino leather upholstery, offered in Black/Atlas Grey or Copper Brown/Atlas Grey, complemented by an anthracite headliner and aluminium rhombicle trim with dark silver M accents. Front sports seats with memory function and four-zone climate control add to the comfort.
Central to the interior is the BMW Curved Display, which integrates a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen powered by BMW Operating System 8.5. The system includes QuickSelect, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, navigation via BMW Maps, and Digital Key Plus. Additionally, the 530i M Sport features an interior camera, connectivity drive services, and telematics. Audiophiles will appreciate the upgraded 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system with 655W of amplification, a step up from the 520i’s Harman Kardon system. A standout feature borrowed from the all-electric i5 is the BMW Interaction Bar, which adds a futuristic and aesthetic touch to the cabin.
The 530i M Sport is equipped with the Driving Assistant Plus package, offering advanced features such as Active Cruise Control with stop-and-go, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Lane Departure and Lane Change Warning, Collision and Pedestrian Warning, and Speed Limit Info. Parking is made effortless with Parking Assistant Plus, which includes Active Park Distance Control, Reversing Assistant, Lateral Parking Aid, a Surround View System, Remote 3D View, and BMW Drive Recorder.
With its enhanced performance, premium features, and cutting-edge technology, the BMW 530i M Sport adds a new dimension to the eighth-generation 5 Series range in Malaysia. Priced higher than the 520i M Sport, it offers significant upgrades that justify the premium, making it an appealing choice for those seeking a luxurious yet dynamic driving experience.
