2025 Volvo EX90 and XC90 facelift launching in Malaysia soon – ROI now open

Volvo Car Malaysia has confirmed that two of its highly anticipated seven-seater SUVs—the fully electric 2025 Volvo EX90 and the updated Volvo XC90 plug-in hybrid, will soon be available for local buyers. Registration of interest are now open at Volvo Malaysia’s website.

All-New Volvo EX90

First introduced in 2022, the Volvo EX90 is the brand’s most advanced and safest vehicle to date. The all-electric SUV is packed with cutting-edge technology, including:

  • Lidar-based safety system: A first for Volvo, lidar enhances driver assistance by detecting obstacles up to 250 meters away, even in low-light conditions.
  • Next-generation computing: Volvo’s Superset tech stack powers the EX90’s systems, processing data faster and enabling continuous software updates.
  • Autonomous-ready hardware: The EX90 is built with future self-driving capabilities in mind, though regulations will determine when these features become active.

The model is already available in some global markets, with Malaysia set to become one of the first Asia Pacific countries to receive it after Thailand.

Updated Volvo XC90

While the EX90 represents the future of Volvo’s electrification, the updated XC90 is designed for those who want a balance between electric efficiency and the familiarity of a combustion engine. The plug-in hybrid SUV, which was Malaysia’s first locally assembled PHEV in 2016, returns with:

  • A refreshed design
  • An updated user interface for a more intuitive experience

Volvo continues to position the XC90 as an ideal choice for those who aren’t ready to go fully electric but still want a lower-emission alternative.

The introduction of these two models expands Volvo Car Malaysia’s electrified lineup, which already includes the Volvo EX30, Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, and the newly renamed Volvo EC40(previously known as the C40 Recharge Pure Electric).

Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, highlighted the company’s goal of offering a solution for all kinds of buyers:

“Regardless of whether you want the best-ever safety technology in a fully electric vehicle, or whether you want to upgrade to the latest version of our iconic SUV awarded multiple times over, there is a ‘90’ flagship model to best suit your life and your lifestyle.”

Volvo Car Malaysia has yet to announce official pricing or launch dates, but interested buyers can register for updates on the Volvo Car Malaysia website.

The arrival of the EX90 and updated XC90 marks another step in Volvo’s transition toward electrification. Whether fully electric or plug-in hybrid, both models continue Volvo’s long-standing emphasis on safety, technology, and practicality for families.
