Shell rolls out new FuelSave Diesel : Up to 19KM more per tank
Shell Malaysia has launched its New + Improved Shell FuelSave Diesel in Peninsular Malaysia, following its earlier introduction in East Malaysia. Touted as Shell’s most fuel-efficient diesel to date, the fuel is said to deliver up to 19 kilometres more per tank, offering motorists the potential for longer drives amid rising fuel costs.
The timing of this launch is notable as the country faces changes in fuel subsidies, with many Malaysians feeling the pinch at the pump. According to Seow Lee Ming, General Manager of Mobility Malaysia, the new formula is meant to offer drivers a more economical solution.
“Shell is committed to supporting Malaysians by delivering greater value through our products,” Seow said. “This New + Improved Shell FuelSave Diesel is designed to meet the needs of drivers navigating various road conditions, whether it’s city traffic, steep mountain drives, or off-road terrain.”
What’s New in the Fuel Formula?
The updated Shell FuelSave Diesel is the result of more than five years of research and testing by a team of 150 scientists. Its key features include:
• Increased Mileage: Shell claims the new formula extends drives by up to 19 kilometres per tank under optimal conditions.
• Engine Cleaning: The diesel now promises to remove up to 65% of harmful engine deposits, which can negatively affect performance over time.
• Double-Action Additives: A new additive targets and prevents the build-up of engine deposits, offering better long-term protection.
For everyday motorists, this means potentially fewer stops at the pump and better engine performance over time—although these claims are likely to vary based on driving habits and vehicle type.
Shell is also pitching this diesel as versatile, capable of handling a wide range of driving conditions. Whether powering through urban congestion in Kuala Lumpur or tackling rural roads leading to places like Terengganu, the company believes this fuel will appeal to a broad spectrum of drivers, from city commuters to heavy-duty vehicle operators.
While Shell’s claims of better mileage and cleaner engines will undoubtedly appeal to cost-conscious drivers, the real test will come from how these improvements perform in real-world conditions. As fuel prices remain a concern for many Malaysians, products like the New + Improved Shell FuelSave Diesel could gain traction if they deliver on their promises.
