Jetour CKD production start in Johor, targets 20,000 units annually as regional hub
Jetour’s CKD (Completely knocked Down) programme is officially underway at Berjaya Assembly’s (B-Assembly) 640,000 sq ft plant in Tampoi, Johor. The facility, which employs over 100 staff, now handles production of the Jetour Dashing and VT9.
The Jetour Dashing was first introduced in April as a fully imported CBU model, but production has since shifted to local CKD with deliveries beginning in June. The Jetour VT9 was launched at the Malaysia Autoshow in May directly as a CKD unit. To date, more than 1,000 vehicles have rolled off the line.
Jetour is positioning the Malaysian plant as a regional export hub, with plans to expand to ASEAN markets, Australia, and the Middle East. The brand has also set up over 20 sales and service outlets nationwide.
Future plans include RM 1.4 billion in additional investment to introduce more CKD models, alongside a dedicated Asia-Pacific R&D hub valued at RM 216 million.
To recap the Jetour models currently available, the Jetour Dashing starts from RM 109,800, while the Jetour VT9 is priced from RM 119,350. Both are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder (156 PS, 230 Nm) paired with a 6-speed wet DCT, shared with the Chery Omoda 5.
