Ferrari Amalfi makes regional debut in Malaysia – V8 twin turbo, 640PS, 760Nm
The new Ferrari Amalfi makes a regional debut in Malaysia as a front-mid-engined twin-turbo V8 2+2 coupé, replacing the Ferrari Roma in the Prancing Horse lineup. An evolution of the Ferrari Roma, the Ferrari Amalfi combines high performance, versatility, and refined aesthetics, suited to those who want to enjoy sporty driving without sacrificing comfort and style. The Ferrari Amalfi also serves as an entry point for new customers to experience Ferrari ownership.
Under the front bonnet, the Ferrari Amalfi is equipped with the now very familiar 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8, now producing 20 PS more than the previous iteration. From the F154 family, this latest configuration delivers 640 PS and 760 Nm of torque, with a higher redline of 7,600 rpm. An advanced turbocharging management system enables independent control of its two turbochargers with dedicated calibration, allowing turbocharger speeds of up to 171,000 rpm, improving throttle response and boost pressure control. Efforts have also been made to reduce engine mass with new lightweight camshafts and a redesigned engine block that eliminates non-structural material, saving about 6.2 kg. The powerful powertrain is mated to a dry-sump 8-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) mounted on the rear axle to achieve a balanced front-to-rear weight distribution.
The styling cue of a Ferrari is crucial, and the Ferrari Amalfi does not disappoint. The Ferrari Styling Centre team, led by Flavio Manzoni, drew inspiration from the Ferrari Roma but pushed a modern minimalist approach without betraying the essence of Ferrari’s 2+2 sports cars. The front, devoid of a traditional grille, is instead distinguished by a floating body-coloured wing above a dark recessed band, discreetly blending in the sensors and headlights.
The sleek monolithic exterior design gives the car a strong and dynamic identity, featuring a wedge-shaped theme along the side that flows towards the rear end, integrating with the taillights. The taillights themselves are hidden within graphical cuts, evoking classic Ferrari design language. The wide and functional rear diffuser, together with the rear screen that merges with the spoiler profile, creates a distinctive design. A notable element at the rear is the active wing integrated into the body of the car. The active wing can operate in three configurations: Low Drag (LD), Medium Downforce (MD), and High Downforce (HD).
Stepping inside, the Ferrari Amalfi adopts a dual-cockpit layout, enveloping both driver and passenger, linked by a dashboard and a central tunnel milled from a block of anodized aluminium. The central tunnel houses the gear selector, key slot, wireless charging pad, and secondary controls. The sail-like shaped door panels complement the cocoon-effect interior, with 14 Burmester Premium Audio System speakers hidden beneath perforated aluminium surfaces. The ventilated front seats come in three different sizes and are equipped with 10 air chambers for the massage function.
The new steering wheel marks a return to tactile controls with physical buttons. The return of the iconic aluminium start button establishes a connection between the driver and the vehicle upon ignition. On the left side are the ADAS controls, adaptive cruise control, phone and voice commands, while on the right side are the selectors for display views, windscreen wipers, and indicators. Two F1-style rotary dials at the back manage volume and radio stations.
A 15.6-inch meter cluster display provides all driving and vehicle dynamics information. At the centre of the dashboard sits a 10.25-inch head unit display for key functions such as Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, multimedia, climate control, seat adjustments, and vehicle settings. Finally, the 8.8-inch passenger dashboard display shows vehicle parameters such as G-forces and engine revs for the passenger.
The Ferrari Amalfi is equipped with a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), bundled together with safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic High Beam, traffic sign recognition and assistance as well as driver drowsiness and distraction detection.
The Ferrari Amalfi comes with a 7-year Genuine Maintenance Programme. This complimentary service programme covers all regular maintenance for the first seven years of the car’s life.
