ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 Flag-off: Proton e.MAS 7 begins 9,000KM journey for green mobility

The ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 (AUD 2025) has officially begun! Organized by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) with support from MITI and Tourism Malaysia, this 9,000km journey across nine ASEAN countries promotes sustainable mobility and regional cooperation ahead of the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 (MAS 2025).

Officiated at Menara MITI by MITI Minister YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, the event highlights Malaysia’s leadership in sustainable transport, automotive innovation, and regional collaboration.

“The ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 reflects our region’s commitment to sustainable mobility, economic integration, and environmental responsibility. Malaysia is dedicated to shaping a unified mobility ecosystem for ASEAN,” said YB Senator Tengku Zafrul.

With Malaysia chairing ASEAN in 2025, this initiative strengthens the push for green and smart mobility across the region.

The Proton e.MAS 7, the official vehicle for AUD 2025, represents Malaysia’s commitment to electric mobility and the National EV agenda.

The convoy consists of six Proton e.MAS 7 EVs and four X Series vehicles from PROTON and PRO-NET, traveling along two routes:

North Route: Hanoi, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia.

South Route: Manila, Sabah, Brunei, Sarawak, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia.

Both routes will converge at MAS 2025, symbolizing ASEAN’s push for regional connectivity and eco-friendly transport.

Taking place from 9–15 May 2025 at MAEPS, Serdang, MAS 2025 will feature:

New car launches & latest EV/ICE tech

Test drives & networking opportunities

Women in Automotive initiative

Automotive Career & Education Day

Following 230,000+ visitors last year, MAS 2025 is expected to break attendance records.

According to MARii CEO Azrul Reza Aziz, AUD 2025 supports ASEAN’s EV transition by harmonizing policies, improving infrastructure, and boosting investment.

“This initiative strengthens ASEAN’s role as a global EV leader while supporting regional supply chains and economic growth,” he stated.

MAS 2025 will showcase over 50 brands, including Proton, Perodua, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Volkswagen, BYD, GWM, Chery, XPeng, Zeekr, PETRONAS, and many more.

With innovation, sustainability, and collaboration at its core, ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 and MAS 2025 pave the way for a greener and smarter automotive future in the region.
