2026 Isuzu D-Max EV revealed: EV pickup truck with 263km range and 3.5 ton towing capacity

Isuzu has officially unveiled the production version of the Isuzu D-Max EV, marking the brand’s bold entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market. First seen as the D-Max BEV Concept at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show, this electric pickup truck retains the rugged performance of the diesel-powered D-Max while introducing a fully electric drivetrain.

The new Isuzu D-Max EV features a dual-motor setup that delivers full-time four-wheel drive (4WD). A front electric motor produces 43 kW (58 PS) and 108 Nm of torque, while the rear motor adds 97 kW (132 PS) and 217 Nm. Combined, the system delivers 140 kW (190 PS) and 325 Nm of torque. The electric D-Max accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 10.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of over 130 km/h.

Power comes from a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, which provides up to 263 km of range (WLTP) or 361 km in city driving. Charging options include:

  • DC Fast Charging: Up to 50 kW, 20–80% in 1 hour
  • AC Charging: Up to 11 kW, full charge (0–100%) in 10 hours

This makes the D-Max EV practical for daily use, fleet operations, and overnight home charging.

Despite going electric, the Isuzu D-Max EV remains a capable pickup truck. Key utility specs include:

  • Payload capacity: 1,010 kg
  • Towing capacity: 3,500 kg
  • Ground clearance: 210 mm
  • Water wading depth: 600 mm
  • Approach angle: 30.5 degrees
  • Departure angle: 24.2 degrees
  • Turning radius: 6.1 meters

A key difference is the De Dion rear suspension, replacing the traditional leaf springs. This change improves handling without compromising load capacity.

In terms of size, the electric D-Max closely mirrors its diesel sibling:

  • Length: 5,280 mm (15 mm longer)
  • Width: 1,870 mm
  • Height: 1,810 mm (with roof rails)
  • Wheelbase: 3,125 mm
  • Kerb weight: 2,350 kg

It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with 265/60R18 tyres, maintaining a balanced look and off-road capability.

Production of the Isuzu D-Max EV has begun in left-hand-drive (LHD) form for European markets. The first units are expected to ship in Q3 2025, while right-hand-drive (RHD) production is set to begin at the end of the year. Sales in the United Kingdom are expected to begin in 2026, with other global markets to follow based on demand.

With the 2026 Isuzu D-Max EV, the Japanese automaker is stepping into the future of commercial and personal transport. By combining the proven durability of the D-Max with an all-electric powertrain, Isuzu aims to serve both environmentally conscious consumers and professional users who require serious performance.

As EV adoption continues to grow, the D-Max EV could set the standard for electric work trucks in global markets.
