Volvo Car Malaysia launches industry-first “Lifetime Warranty” for genuine parts

Volvo Car Malaysia has announced an industry-first lifetime warranty for Volvo genuine parts, rebranding it as “Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty”. As its name suggests, the life-time warranty is applicable for genuine parts installed on Volvo cars that have exceeded the standard warranty. That’s basically it, but of course, this will need a bit clarification.

First things first, this lifetime warranty covers all Volvo Genuine Parts, EXCEPT FOR parts that are:

  • Wholesale
  • Over-the-counter
  • Consumables
  • Batteries
  • Accessories
  • Wear-and-tear
  • Purchased BEFORE October 1, 2021

For the covered parts, they can be replaced unlimited times, subject to specified exemptions.

If a defective part covered under the Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty causes a failure in other parts eligible under the extended warranty, those parts will also be replaced free of charge.

To help you clarify whether a warranty claim could be made, Volvo Car Malaysia has prepared the following table:

Valid

Not Valid

Volvo Genuine Parts purchased on or after 1 October 2021.

Volvo Genuine Parts purchased before 1 October 2021.

Volvo Genuine Parts paid in full (purchased outside standard warranty claims)

Volvo Genuine Parts replaced under the standard warranty for new vehicles

Volvo Genuine Parts installed by authorised Volvo dealerships.

Parts installed in non-authorised workshops, where the 12-month standard warranty and Genuine Parts Extended Warranty do not apply.

Dated parts invoice or receipt presented with printed current vehicle owner’s legal name.

No invoice/receipt or invoice/receipt without the current vehicle owner’s printed, legal name.

Throughout the same ownership.

If the car has a new registered owner since the part was replaced.

Parts fully purchased by customer and replaced at Volvo authorised dealerships.

For parts replaced under new car warranty.

To qualify for coverage, parts must be purchased and installed on or after 1 October 2021 at an authorised Volvo dealership, with a valid invoice as proof of installation. The lifetime warranty is non-transferable and applies only to one ownership, including fleet and company cars, and customers are required to follow Volvo’s recommended maintenance schedule.

Vehicles that have not visited a Volvo authorised workshop for more than two years after the standard warranty will need to undergo a health check at the owners cost to ensure that the vehicle is in good condition and not been modified or tampered in any way. The validity of the Volvo Genuine Parts Extended Warranty is subject to the vehicle being subsequently serviced and maintained at Volvo’s authorised service network.
