IGL Coatings x AirAsia Ride team up to improve visibility and safety for over 400 drivers
Two homegrown Malaysian brands — IGL Coatings and AirAsia Ride — have announced a nationwide collaboration aimed at improving road safety and comfort for ride-hailing drivers and passengers.
Through this partnership, more than 400 AirAsia Ride drivers across Klang Valley, Johor, and Penang will benefit from IGL Coatings’ latest hydrophobic windscreen technology. The graphene-based coating enhances water repellency, improves visibility during heavy rain, and reduces glare for safer driving in Malaysia’s tropical conditions.
The first batch of 120 drivers will have their vehicles treated with IGL’s professional-grade coating, while another 300 DIY IGL Window Kits will be distributed nationwide to drivers and customers. AirAsia Ride is the first Malaysian e-hailing platform to adopt this visibility-enhancing coating across its fleet.
“This partnership aligns perfectly with our commitment to empower drivers and deliver the best ride experience for our passengers,” said Ramanathan A.M.N. Thiagarajan, CFO of AirAsia MOVE. “As most AirAsia Ride users are travellers on airport transfers, comfort and safety remain our top priority.”
IGL Coatings founder Keong Chun Chieh added that beyond technology technology, it’s about improving everyday driving safety. “From protecting cars and surfaces to now protecting people on the road, this partnership is a step towards safer journeys and more responsible mobility,” he said.
Founded in Malaysia in 2015, IGL Coatings is a global name in sustainable nanotechnology-based surface protection, exporting to over 50 countries. AirAsia Ride, part of the AirAsia MOVE ecosystem, currently has over 53,000 registered drivers and continues to expand its footprint across Southeast Asia.
