All-new 2025 Subaru Forester launched in Malaysia – RM 222k, new 2.5L NA Boxer, EyeSight 4.0

The all-new sixth-generation 2025 Subaru Forester has officially been launched in Malaysia. Fully imported (CBU) from Japan, the SUV arrives in a single 2.5i-S EyeSight variant priced at RM 221,500 before on-the-road costs and insurance.

This marks the first Japanese-sourced Forester in years, following Subaru’s decision to end CKD operations in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia by the end of 2024. The outgoing fifth-generation model was previously assembled in Thailand.

2025 Subaru Forester Specs

Under the bonnet is Subaru’s FB25 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated boxer engine, producing 185 PS and 247 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a Lineartronic CVT and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system with Active Torque Vectoring.

Performance figures stand at 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and a top speed of 205 km/h. Suspension remains MacPherson struts up front and double wishbones at the rear, while chassis rigidity has been improved by up to 10%, thanks to an upgraded Subaru Global Platform.

Ride comfort and handling also benefit from the stiffer chassis and revised suspension geometry. Ground clearance remains generous at 220 mm, complemented by dual-function X-Mode with expanded off-road control and hill descent assist.

2025 Forester Design and Dimensions

Dimensionally, the new 2025 Subaru Forester measures 4,655 mm long (+15 mm), 1,830 mm wide (+15 mm), and 1,730 mm tall, with a 2,670 mm wheelbase. The SUV carries a more rugged look with a larger grille, squared wheel arches and black body cladding.

Subtle details like the two-tier LED lighting, reshaped bumper and more prominent body lines lend the SUV a bolder presence, while still keeping its classic upright stance.
