Launched in Brunei, Proton X50 Facelift enters first export market
Proton International Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (PICSB) has announced that Brunei is the first export market to receive the new Proton X50. Proton International Corporation Sdn. Bhd. Vice President, Wan Wei said, “Brunei is the first overseas market to introduce the All-New Proton X50, and this reflects the confidence PROTON has in Brunei as an export market as well as the trust in our long-standing partnership with PAD Motors. It also highlights the important role Brunei continues to play in PROTON’s international journey. With models like the Proton X50, the company is well-positioned to achieve its 2026 export targets and accelerate towards our longterm ambition of reaching 330,000 units by 2030, with 30% contributed by export markets”.
PICSB recorded a total export volume of 6,000 units across the international market, with the Proton X50 accounting to 29% from the total volume back in 2025. The Proton X50 contributed to 38% of total vehicle sales in Brunei. This year, a target of 1,000 units has been set by PICSB for the Brunei market with the launch of the Proton X50 Facelift and the eventual rollout of the Proton Saga.
For the Brunei market, the new Proton X50 is offered with the following variants and pricing:
- Proton X50 Executive – B$27,499 (RM 86,425)
- Proton X50 Premium – B$31,500 (RM 99,000)
- Proton X50 Flagship – B$34,500 (RM 108,428)
Direct price conversion to Malaysian Ringgit entails RM 86,425 for the X50 Executive, RM 99,000 for the X50 Premium, and RM 108,428 for the X50 Flagship. The new Proton X50 also comes with a 5-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty plus free labour service for the first 3 years of vehicle ownership. Additionally, an early-bird discount of B$1,500 is offered for the first 100 customers.
