Proton eMas 5 bookings open: Malaysia’s most affordable EV, from RM 60k to RM 80k
Pro-Net’s upcoming compact EV, the Proton eMas 5, is now officially open for booking. The model will be the brand’s second electric model after the eMas 7, and Malaysia’s most affordable EV yet.
Estimated prices start from RM 60,000 for the eMas 5 Prime and RM 80,000 for the Premium. Bookings can be made at any Proton eMas dealership or via the official website for a RM 99 booking fee, which comes with a Touch ‘n Go NFC card preloaded with RM 100 and RM 500 off the booking fee for early customers.
The eMas 5 is based on the Geely Xingyuan, also known as the EX2 in some markets. Both variants feature a rear-mounted electric motor and multi-link rear suspension.

- Prime: 79 PS (58 kW), 130 Nm; 30.12 kWh LFP battery; 225 km WLTP range
- Premium: 116 PS (85 kW), 150 Nm; 40.16 kWh LFP battery; 325 km WLTP range
Both support DC fast charging from 30–80% in 21 minutes (up to 71 kW) and AC charging up to 6.6 kW, with vehicle-to-load (V2L) support.
The Proton eMas 5 retains the curvy, organic design of the Xingyuan with slim LED headlights, flush door handles and sculpted lines.
Dimensions measure 4,135 mm long, 1,805 mm wide and 1,580 mm tall, with a 2,650 mm wheelbase. Storage includes a 70-litre frunk and 375-litre boot (1,320 litres folded).
Inside, the eMas 5 features a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, Atlas OS with Bahasa Malaysia voice control, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The Premium adds a black roof, LED lighting, alloy wheels, 360-degree camera, six speakers, and a powered tailgate. Other highlights include 32 storage compartments, a stubby gear selector, and rear air vents.
Safety wise, the Premium variant gets ADAS with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring and rear collision warning. Six airbags and stability control are standard.
Five exterior colours are available: Moonstone White, Graphite Silver, Slate Grey, plus Marble Cream and Quartz Rose exclusive to the Premium.
